Limited lifetime warranty

Effective October 2, 2026

1. What is covered

Melrose Companies LLC, doing business as Melrose Machine Works ("we", "us", "our") warrants the Series I (Model MMW-S1) pen body, bolt, bolt handle, and supplied wrench against manufacturing defects in materials and craftsmanship for the life of the product. "Life of the product" means for as long as the pen is owned by you or a later owner. It is not tied to the lifetime of any person. The spring is a wear part made for us by a supplier. It is covered against defects for one year from the original purchase date; after that, replacements are available (section 8).

2. Who is covered

This warranty covers anyone who owns the pen, including pens we resell as open box. Coverage transfers with the pen to each new owner.

3. What we will do

If a covered part fails because of a defect, we will repair it or replace it with the same part, at our option. If that part is no longer made, we will replace it with the closest current equivalent, or replace the pen with a current model of equal or greater value. If neither is possible, we will refund the original purchase price as recorded in our order records. Repaired and replaced parts are covered for the rest of the warranty, and may differ in patina from the rest of the pen until they age. If we replace the bolt, we record the new serial number against your pen so your proof of ownership still works.

4. What is not covered

  • Normal wear, surface scratches, scuffs, nicks, and dents.
  • The natural patina, darkening, or tarnish of C693 Eco Brass.
  • Dropped or bent bodies.
  • Depleted ink refills, springs that weaken from normal use, and springs more than one year after the original purchase.
  • Lost components.
  • Pens with an altered or removed serial number.
  • Damage from tools other than the supplied wrench, from forcing non-standard refills, or from modification.
  • Damage from using the pen for anything other than writing or sketching.
  • The 3D-printed accessories (case, lid, and display stand), except as described in section 4a.

Using a Parker G2-style refill from another brand does not void this warranty.

4a. 3D-printed accessories

The case, lid, and display stand are covered against breakage or defects for 30 days from delivery. Covered accessories are replaced, not repaired. Email support@melrosemachineworks.com with photos of the damaged part and your order number or serial number. We ship the replacement at no cost, and you do not need to return the broken part.

5. Proof of ownership

Every pen has a serial number engraved on the bottom of the bolt, and we record it with each order. Each pen also ships with an instruction sheet stamped with its serial number and our seal. To make a claim, send photos of the pen showing the problem, along with one of the following:

  • A photo of the stamped instruction sheet, or
  • The serial number from the bolt.

6. How to make a claim

  1. Email support@melrosemachineworks.com with photos of the pen, your proof of ownership, and a description of the problem.
  2. We will reply within 10 business days with instructions. Please do not send the pen until we do.
  3. You pay the cost of shipping the pen to us. We recommend a tracked, insured service. We pay for return shipping on approved claims within the United States. Owners outside the United States pay shipping both ways.
  4. We will complete approved repairs or replacements within 30 days of receiving the pen, unless delays beyond our control prevent it, in which case we will tell you.
  5. If we determine the issue is not covered, we will tell you why and return the pen at our cost. We may offer a paid repair. We quote before any work and do nothing without your approval.

7. Limitations

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MELROSE COMPANIES LLC IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THIS PRODUCT, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY WILL NOT EXCEED THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED TO ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THIS LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Nothing in this warranty limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Replacement springs, bolt handles, cases, and lids are available for purchase. Contact support@melrosemachineworks.com.
